WHAT IS VIBRATIONAL SOUND THERAPY
Vibrational Sound Therapy (VST) combines powerful vibration and tones to induce an immediate relaxed state. The induction of the sound waves directly into the body along with soothing ambient tones is such a strong treatment that clients report effects ranging from a meditative state to deep relaxation. By placing the therapeutic singing bowls directly on the body and using the correct techniques, a practitioner engages with their client both physically and aurally.
The techniques associated with VST have many advantages over traditional massage. One major comfort barrier that prevents many people from receiving a traditional massage is fear of being touched by a stranger. In the VST method, the client remains fully clothed and is never touched directly by the practitioner. In fact, because the singing bowl is doing most of the physical work, contact is kept to minimum. This does not diminish the connection between client and practitioner because intimacy is maintained through the sound and the vibration transmitted through the bowl. Vibrational Sound Therapy is also much less physically intrusive than traditional hands-on massage, and won’t leave the client feeling sore.
Relaxation is a state of existence liberated from tension and stress. The state of consciousness known as relaxation is induced by the techniques employed during Vibrational Sound Therapy. VST is a process that decreases the effects of stress on the body and mind.
Persistent stress is shown to cause various diseases such as heart attacks, stroke, kidney disease, and arthritis.
While receiving relaxation through VST, visible signs of the effect are shown. Muscle tension is seen to decrease, the mind becomes calm, blood pressure decreases, and the harmful effects of prolonged exposure to stress seem to melt away. Studies have shown a predictable response to relaxation therapies. Relaxation therapies can reduce the symptoms of stress by slowing your heart rate, lowering blood pressure, and slowing the breathing rate. The vibrations increase blood flow to major muscles, reduce muscle tension, and gently reduce chronic pain. The gentle tone helps to focus our minds, fostering stronger concentration and balanced moods while reducing fatigue. A focused mind will better deal with anger and frustration and will boost confidence to help handle problems.

What is a session like
Preparing for a session wear comfortable clothing (no blue jeans). Prior to the session you will be asked to remove all jewelry, shoes and socks. Sessions can range from 60 to 75 minutes. This includes an initial intake, discussing the client’s current body/mind conditions, and some “waking up” time after the session.
During the session the session is done with you lying comfortably on a massage table (and can also be done sitting in a chair). You are fully clothed. Placing the therapeutic singing bowls directly on the body (e.g., sternum, stomach, shoulders, legs, back) or, if more appropriate, near the body. Most clients start to relax as soon as the session begins.
Post sessionPlease give yourself 10 - 20 minutes after your session to transition to the next part of your afternoon or evening. A VST session can induce deep relaxation states, both physically, and in terms of alertness. Some people relate the experience as being similar to waking up from a deep sleep, or rising from a deep state of meditation. Let yourself savor the effects before rushing off to the next thing!
Going homePlease plan to be in a quiet, relaxed environment following the session. Drink plenty of water to help eliminate any toxins that may have been released. If you can, sit or lie down quietly in nature for a period of time. This will allow your body’s healing energy to integrate and be sustained. Avoid technology and any stimulating food, beverages or alcohol. Please note that the healing may continue over a few days after the session in which the mind and body may continue to be balanced.
